This photo also "somewhat" fits with today's Joy of Luck Prompt Day Seven...
Prompt: we all have something in our future to look forward to. This may be professional growth, spiritual growth, growth of our children, growth of our family, or whatever else in life that gives you hope.
What will your luck bring in your future? What blessings do you look forward to? I like to think of this as your own personal “rainbow.”

I wasn't feeling all that creative today. So, when I was outside with my son I looked around at our backyard and started to think about what this Spring/Summer/Fall would bring for our yard. Last year we had to do a complete overhaul on it. We had 10 or so trees fall due to high winds. In a way we were ok with it, but at the same time we hadn't really planned for the need of additional expenses. Now that it is all cleared out we are able to see the additional 1 1/2 acres we own which was once behind the trees. This also made our backyard so much larger!! I look forward to what the future holds for it and us enjoying it with our children. Our sledding hill is one of those joys so far! The possibilities will be endless. . .

Any suggestions on how to save photos for our blogs? I was saving them by changing the image size width to 900. Then I read that they should be at a resolution of 72....The photos look their sharpest if I don't change the width to 900 and just do the resolution to 72. I would like the photos a little larger though and still sharp looking....I'd love any and all suggestions as to what you do. Thanks!!
This photo of you with your children is beautiful. I also like the soft colors in the snow picture.
ReplyDeleteHow nice to have all that room! We used to live on five acres and miss it so much. We plan to move to Idaho in a few years to get back onto property and a sledding hill would be awesome!!! :) Love that you got in front of the camera again! Definitely some cherished memories for your little ones.
ReplyDeleteOkay, so here is how the blog saving goes. Resize your photos to 900 pixels and a resolution of 72. Then sharpen for web! If you sharpen before I believe that you loose it with the resolution of the picture or something like that. Man I sound like I don't know anything! Ha! But that is what I do to all my pictures. Try that out and see how it works. I'm going to see if I can't find that post about it on CM.
You are so pretty! So sorry you guys keep getting snow dumped on you, but surely it will come to an end soon!
ReplyDeleteI just us a Sharpen for Web action by AMP'd. I think I either got it from CM's or from her FB. Amy McMaster or McMasters, something like that. Basically all it does is change the resolution to 72, resizes to 800 on the long size (which fits my blog perfectly), and sharpens. Then you can mask the sharpening, reduce the opacity, etc. Included in that action is also a sharpen for print, sharpen for FB (which is what I use for web), paint on sharpening. I love it. I used to use MCP Actions sharpen for web, but I like this one much more.
Ack! More snow?! I do love your snowy bigger backyard photo, though! Very interesting composition.
ReplyDeleteAs far as size/sharpening for the blog, I do the same thing Laurie does. I also upload them to Flickr and copy paste the HTML code of the original sized photo.
And...you look great in your photo! I REALLY need to do better about my self portraits with my babies.
Your kids look so much like you. Y'all are adorable.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like I've been doing it wrong....I just resize to 920 on the long side and keep the resolution as is. I don't sharpen for web either. Hmmm.....Guess I need to figure this out.
Cool first photo, and beautiful second! What settings do you use? It's always so bright and nice!
ReplyDeleteWow - I've never sharpened or done any resizing on any of my photos.. I'm such a loser! jk... but, I didn't know. Do we need to?
I love the pictures of you and your kids, and your pictures look very nice on my computer, so whatever you are doing looks good on this end.
ReplyDeleteI use Smugmug for photo sharing and storage, so upload to them and they have a button I push to share and then choose the size and it gives me some code to plug into my blog, so it's super simple. Sometimes I sharpen before I upload if the photo is a little soft, but otherwise, I just edit to taste and go from there. I really should learn about different options in case there is a better way, but the way I do it is super simple and I think they look ok to me. Let me know if you think otherwise and what is working best for you.
