Day 76 Joy of Luck Day One:Feeling Fortunate

I wasn't planning on taking on the Joy of Luck Class by Willette Designs, Inc....but figured it would help me explore photographing things other than my children??  I figure one must tire of seeing my children everyday, right? ;)

Today's prompt was to photograph this.....What inanimate object/thing/concept is something that you take for granted on a daily basis?  What would someone who is not as fortunate as you are say about your “luck” to have such a thing in  your life?  Think about your blessings today – (don’t focus on people for this one…that will come later)…focus on opportunity/experience/something you have/do EVERYDAY that is an unforeseen blessing in your life. (Melissa, I hope you didn't mind that I copied this from your blog....I hadn't received today's prompt yet, thanks!)

I won't bore you with all the details, but I am very thankful for my food and desserts!  I know most everyone loves to eat and most everyone LOVES a yummy dessert!  I will be going on three years of living Gluten Free (GF).  I have Celiac Disease.  I thought my world of enjoying my food was going to come to an end that very day of my diagnosis.  What was I going to eat??  Will I ever get to go out to eat again?  Will I ever get to have a yummy dessert?  I am such a sweet tooth....I had an endless number of questions.  Most left unanswered other than, you will find foods that you will come to like.  In the last year or so the awareness of Celiac Disease has grown.  More foods are becoming available and restaurants all over are popping up with GF menus.  Now I just have to gain the confidence that they are very careful and I won't get sick from eating there ;)

So, I am thankful for something I so took for granted before being diagnosed....my food, my desserts....I am thankful that today I have more and more options as to what to eat.   And I feel fortunate that I have those options and pray for those in other countries that are not so fortunate.  My heart aches for them and I pray for them that they will be provided for just as I was and am now.

These were taken later in the day and I just couldn't resist showing you!  These came about while I was going to the bathroom ;)....sorry!  The afternoon sun sets in front of our house.  We have an arched window above our front door which allows this tunnel of light to stream in towards our garage entryway where our restroom is.  As most moms, I don't get much privacy while I am using the restroom and today was no different.  My DS had been making mini books all day and he came to read me the last one he had written.  I looked at him and said...."DON"T MOVE!!" :)  He looked at me strangely...I ran for my camera and had some fun with the light.  I love the blown out spots and I so love this child.  These pictures capture his unique personality!!

  2. Tracy, this is adorable! The glasses, the tiny books, his expression, the light, all perfect.

So sorry about Celiac Dz. It would be very difficult for me to give up certain foods. That would definitely be something that I take for granted.

  3. Love these! The light is perfect.

I would have a hard time giving up certain foods too. My grandma had Celiac Disease and I know it was sometimes hard for her to find things to eat.

  4. I have a major sweet tooth also. Not being able to eat sweets would DEFINITELY rock my world. That dessert you photographed looks very yummy! :)

And that first pic of your son is gorgeous! I am totally impressed. That is definitely one for the family archives. So cool!

  5. I like the interesting light here and the B/W conversions. I tested negative for Celiac, but I recently bought a book about it because I truly belive I have an intolerance for gluten. I'm learning how to handle that. I do feel for you. Feeling better is worth it..right?

  6. I forgot to mention about the Hallmark tree...they do not make it anymore, but I saw several on ebay today. There are also a variety of wall decor trees oput there that seem to be popular.

  10. I am a diehard chocoholic and have no will power when it comes to decadent desserts and ice cream so I SO feel for you. I'm sorry for the diagnosis but happy that you are finding ways to live with the disease and satisfy your cravings.

The last picture of your son is AWESOME!
