Monochrome RAW question...
The last time I shot in monochrome, I was shooting both .jpeg and RAW. Well now I am only shooting RAW. How am I able to get the photo to look monochrome like the .jpeg file SOOC did while the RAW is color? Any suggestions....hope this makes sense ;) Thanks!!
I JUST did this! Sunday I decided to shoot in monochrome (I always shoot in RAW) and was surprised when the images came up in color on the computer. I'm sure it's not the right way, but I just slid the saturation slider all the way to the left in ACR. You could use any other method for converting to B&W. The info I found in a quick search said that it's pretty pointless to shoot monochrome when using RAW, since the camera still keeps all the color info and you'll have to convert it anyway. I posted those photos on Monday, if you want to look to see what they look like using the slider method :-)
ReplyDeleteMaybe you can make a custom preset or something for ACR by checking what your jpeg settings are in camera? I've never shot in monochrome, I just convert afterward.
ReplyDeleteYou cannot make your RAW look like monochrome. The only option is to convert them in post. If you are interested, you can check this out:

Hope this helps!

ReplyDeleteFirst time I shot in monochrome and RAW I was so confused too! I think I might have shot in JPEG too though, so I had those photos to prove that I wasn't crazy. LOL Just remember Raw is Raw and the camera does nothing to the image, that's why it's in color. :)
