Day 179 Butterfly Release

About a week and a half ago my husband found a mourning cloak caterpillar climbing up the wall of our house outside.  My youngest DS came in with it and I just wasn't so sure of it.  I hadn't seen one like it before and it looked scary (hence the no photo because I thought it was some poisonous caterpillar).  I wish I would have taken a photo of it because it ended up turning into a chrysalis and then we finally figured out what it was.  Well today it came out of it's chrysalis and we released it.  I have a lot of great photos of the event, but am a bit too tired to edit them all right now.  This photo is of my youngest DS's hand reaching in to have the butterfly climb on and be released.

Just some other photos I worked on this week....

  2. Yay! What did you feed it while in "captivity"? We did the caterpillar thing last year that you get by mail, but they come with food....the butterfly is gorgeous. Love the panning shot too! Isn't it fun!
