Paint Colors

This is probably really crazy and my husband will probably be calling me as soon as he reads this (as well as my mother & father who helped up paint the first time).....but I want to repaint my kitchen/dinette/living room area.  We painted these areas about 2 yrs ago, but with me taking pictures in the dinette, the light mustard yellow color is just giving me a cast I prefer not to deal with. I want all the rooms to flow well together. So I would need two colors.  I was thinking more in the gray/neutral tones.  Anyone have a room painted in a color they love and it works great with photographing?  I love the Pottery/Barn/Restoration Hardware look.  I'd welcome any color recommendations!!  Thanks!!

  1. I about laughed my butt off with this post!!! :) I told my husband the other week I wanted to repaint our bedroom because the lighting is amazing in there and our walls are blue. I explained to him the color cast and he looked at me like I was nuts! He agreed to paint back three walls. Haha If I were you, I would keep everything light since then you can use the walls as a reflector. I don't know any paint names but when we did our bathrooms and the nursery, I painted 8 strips of color on our wall for a week and then narrowed down. That's pretty typical advice, sorry I couldn't be more help. :)

  2. You are nuts ;) I would think the only color that wouldn't cast other than white would be gray.... We have a light Khaki which has yellow tones in it and it still casts if there are any bright spots on the walls. Just convert everything to B&W ;) lol.

  3. This is too funny! I'm thinking something light, too...?? But heck, I don't know. This is coming from a girl with a red dining room, yellow kitchen and green(ish) living room. Man. That sounds ugly now that I've actually typed it out. Ha!

  4. Comment tagger!! LOL!

The rounded corners action I used says it sharpens, but I can't see where I can adjust that....or if it's even sharpening...?? Also, the processing that I've been doing is from Paint the Moon and it's called Hush Now. I ran the action twice on the swing photo.

    Thanks for the compliments. :o)

  5. Can I give you a great big hug?!?! I've posted the SAME thing!! Our walls are a mustardy yellow and I cannot deal w/how things photograph inside. Especially at night.

When you figure it out, I'd love to know. I have stripes of colors all over our house.
