The first hour and a half he had lessons in a one-room school house with two other grades. He LOVED it! The girls were dressed up in clothing of the early 1900's. {Adorable} As I sat in the back of the room I picked out one of the adorable girls I thought would be perfect for him to date. She's actually the girl in the far right corner...hee hee {Of course when he is 7 yrs older or so!} ;)

An experience...

Then History continued to come alive as the children were guided by a costumed interpreter through buildings in the Village. Some of these buildings included a bank, a general store, a train station, a barber shop/Dentist,
The Jail, etc... It was so inspiring! I want to go back with my children and take photos of them there.

I loved it being just him and me! {wish I had taken a photo of us two together} It gave me time to reflect on what is important in life. With the craziness that has been around me, this time was good for me to have to be reminded of what my husband's and my job is right now...to teach and raise our three beauties.

Just something I want to remember from today....**My middle DS came to me today and said, "Mommy, I want to be a journalist when I get big." Melted my heart. He would be perfect for the job!**
These are wonderful Tracy. I just love the one of the classroom. Glad you guys had a good day. I hope you find your gray card soon. You've got a lot on your plate right now, so make sure to take some time for yourself. :) You'll find your groove again with balance, I have no doubt.
ReplyDeleteHow is Estelle doing? Better I hope. Adalyn's nose started running really bad today. She's been sticking her fingers in her mouth even more lately so I'm hoping it's just the teeth and nothing more.
My first thought is that I wish I were as good at using a gray card as you are! LOL! Second...these pictures are all wonderful. That classroom is exactly as I remember it when I went to school in the late 40's and 50's. I started kindergarten in 1949! You are right about the priorities. This time with your children will be gone before you know what hit you!
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love these, especially the classroom one. What a fun day. That's something Em and I would totally love. We love history and going back in time.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like so much fun and such a cool field trip! Your pictures are wonderful! You know, I still have not used a gray card. Maybe I should try to. I have been missing my little doohicky that holds my camera onto the tripod. Cannot find it anywhere.
ReplyDeleteOh, Tracy...I really loved this post and your photos from your field trip. I'm glad you got to break away with your little guy. Sometimes the littlest things remind us of why we do what we do for these sweeties we have. Hope your day today is filled with the treasure of a found grey card!! ;o)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic experience. I wish I could have done something like this when I was a kid! I also love that you're picking out his soon-to-be girlfriends!! (I would do the same thing) Your shots from today are amazing and truly depict the antiquity of it all!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! It all looks so nice. And how precious are you lil ones, they have a great mum!
ReplyDeletePs Kara has a post today with how to put your email on for replies if you still wanted to :-) http://karas365.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteoh i love these!! what an awesome field trip to be a part of... that's so great that your son can appreciate history at such a young age.
ReplyDeletelove that grey card... where did you get it from?! also, my remote control is my latest victim of misplaced item. i haven't seen that thing in a month or so... hopefully, i will your luck it finding it again!
I really enjoyed this post; your pictures from the day are awesome as always, but I really like that you were able to spend the day with the special man in your life and reflect on what is really important to you right now. I think we all lose track of that sometimes, and unlike a grey card that will show back up again or that we can buy another one, these are days we can never get back so we have to live in the moment or they'll pass us right by.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Where is this? Whenever I see pix like this I immediately think Colonial Williamsburg or Sturbridge Village.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll take gorgeous pix of their wedding. ;)
Okay, I LOVE 4 and 6! Don't know why I like the B&W except that it's like an old, newly discovered picture!
ReplyDeleteMy grey card is missing as of this morning. :(
ReplyDeleteThese shots are wonderful and document a GREAT memory! :)
Adorable. That is a great experience and yes, your work is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI still do not know how to use this graybeards ;(
Love the reflections that you were able to make while with your sweet DS. By the way, this series is gorgeous and stunning!!! Love the tones and post processing.
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks for mentioning the gray card. The moment I saw it, i have to dig into the archives in the internet to see what it is and how it's being used. I am such a dork...LOL..HOpe you found it!!!
