So this is what I have for today~our budding Maple. I spent all of my time editing today while my dear husband played with the children and didn't get much time to play. I was determined to get a couple shots in RAW. All I did with the first photo was open it up in Adobe RAW and messed with the colors a a tiny tiny bit. Not much. Then just sharpened for web. Not sure if things look good. What do you think? Any advice? I am feeling like such a newbie here. :)

I also wanted to try out a little post processing. So here is the same photo with a little different look.

Thanks for all the inspiration!! And for some reason, I am still noticing that my blog is not showing up on the Dashboard right away??? A bit frustrating. Any advice in that area as well? Thanks!
And just one more of my DD watching me edit this afternoon. She enjoyed sitting next to me at her brothers school desk.

YOU DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited for your right now! YES, if you mess up your white balance and leave it on some wonky setting, you get to change it!!! Isn't it amazing! I knew you would love it! Love the photos. Doesn't it make SOOC so much more beautiful?! Oh I'm so excited you decided to try it. Now just get ride of that JPEG... haha... I promise you won't regret it. ;)
ReplyDeleteYour daughter looks so sweet hanging with out with you!
I love RAW, I just am too scared to completely change over. Why? I don't know! It's just something that isn't my every day perfected routine. ?? These are great!
ReplyDeleteYay...way to go with the RAW, isn't it awesome!! Love the shot of your little girl admiring your handy work!!
ReplyDeleteI am so proud of you!!! I am scared to try RAW!!! You gave me inspiration :D
ReplyDeleteI still have not shot RAW. Maybe I need to try. I love the shot. It is really beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe way I was taught to edit (I have PSE) was to first "Open As" and then change the menu down at the bottom to Camera Raw. I am able to take the little dropper and change my WB on a jpeg. I really like that.
I think that first is so beautiful! I definitely still have so much to learn ;-)
ReplyDeleteI have not tried RAW. You have to take it though PS or lightroom, right? Your photos are beautiful... I LOVE this one of your DD
ReplyDeleteWOO HOO that is what I am going to try next. You have inspired me :-)
ReplyDeleteI am riding the fence too. I have shot with a RAW and JPEG twice and I see that the SOOC is much better. I just don't know what to do with such large files!?!?!? I upload them to a hard drive, but can't bring myself to delete them from my computer.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, like you, I will eventually make the switch
I love RAW! Been shooting it for 3-4 years now. I can't imagine going back to jpeg (though I do when I shoot my church's VBS-can't edit hundreds of photos over a week) You did a great job! I like your 2nd edit best. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the tones in your first two pictures - just beautiful! And your daughter is just precious. What a little dollie! :-) Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on switching to RAW. Not as scary as you thought, huh? No, it does not select your WB for you. It's amazing how your whole photog world opens up even more when you switch to RAW.
ReplyDeletelove the first one and the edit you did was an amazing one!!! RAW is always the best! Aside from the fact that you can adjust your WB, you can also adjust your exposures - darken or brighten the photo if it need be. Just be careful with files. THey are big. I got myself external hard drives to save your computer's hard drive (I have a 500 GB and so far it has about a years' worth of RAW files and edits and I am still half way)...There was a sale at Best Buy and got myself a 2TB external hardrive as well. THey are pretty easy to use because they are USB's. Just attach them to a USB port and bingo!!!
ReplyDeleteYour DD is such a cutie. I hope my daughter is like her who just sits right beside you. Mine wants to be in action infront of the computer..:)
You are so brave. I'm anxious to see and hear what you have to say about it over the next few weeks, so make sure you keep all us fence sitters in the loop so we can more reason to try or stay away from it.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, the lighting on your last picture, the one of you DD, is pure perfection! And the look on her face is absolutely precious!
BTW, your wedding shots are awesome, and I'm sure the bride will be thrilled with them. Your sign was a cute idea and your candids really captured the joy and magic of the moment.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the big "move" to raw! You'll never look back ;-)
