Day 212 Monarch Caterpillar
Today we found our first Monarch Caterpillar of the year. Yay!! It's hard to see the little guy/girl in there, but Ethan and Estelle are enjoying their new pet. We always let them go when they are ready to fly....until then we treat them like royalty. Two years ago around the time when I was due with Estelle, we had two plump Monarch caterpillars. Instead of instructions given to the grandparents for the children, it was the caterpillars. Watching the life cycle of caterpillars into butterflies is one of our most favorite things about summer!!

What a fun project and I like the expressions on the children's faces as they are studying the butterfly
ReplyDeleteThis is so sweet! Love it!
ReplyDeleteYou can just see the wonder in their faces! Very cool!
ReplyDeleteLove this picture! She looks so interested in the caterpillars, and it looks like big brother is telling her all about them. Maybe we will try raising some next year :)
ReplyDeleteI love the expression on Ethan's face! Don't you just love how something so simple can elicit such an amazing response from kids. The wonders of the world are so marvelous to them. As adults, we can all learn something from their childhood innocence!
ReplyDeleteThis is so great! Love the looks on their faces! We also raise Monarchs. Last year we raised 34. This year we have only raised 6 so far. I think the heat/drought sent them further north. :(
