Day 185 Independence Day

We went out of our normal routine for the 4th this year and drove to watch some fireworks while sitting in the car.  On our way we had a wonderful view.  I took a lot from the car which game the fireworks an interesting look.

I liked this first one because of the colors.
RED.STOP LIGHTS
BLUE.SKY
WHITE.FIREWORKS
FREEDOM

A Favorite of mine because I love PINK and this has a tinge of that!

One of my favorites with the gold sparkles behind the bright fireworks along with the trail of smoke.

And I am excited to have another photo of me with my family!!  We spent the day with my family.  Lunch at my brothers and then off to the pool for the afternoon.  LOTS of FUN!!  Thanks for being my photographer, Dad!

Hope you all had a wonderful 4th!!

  1. You guys look so adorable in your patriotic attire! Isn't the 4th a fun day; I just love it! All your firework shots are cool, but I especially like the 4th one because it's so "girly" and different than your normal firework shot.

  2. LOL, we must have been commenting at the exact same time! Even though the tutorials I read said to use Manual focus, my camera was focusing fine in Auto, so I just went with it. I put my settings at the suggested ISO of 100 and f/11 and then played with a couple of test shots to set my SS. I liked how they looked in the viewfinder, so when I saw the opportunity to grab that shot of my son watching, I left everything the same and popped up the on-camera flash to bring out some of his detail and not just have an silhoutte of him, but I did have to tone it down and darken him in PPing so he wasn't so bright. That is one of the fun things that Catherine shared with me about using a flash...set your shot up for the the background and then use the flash to fill in the foreground...or something like that, so I just ran with it.

  11. Love that you took those from the car. How awesome! You get such great family photos and I'm glad you have the opportunity to be in them! Can't wait for Karl to get home, so we can finally get some summer shots of all of us. I feel awful for not documenting this summer better for Adalyn. Oh well, not much you can do when you're sick. Plus there's still August right? Okay I'm done rambling. :) Hope you're having an awesome weekend!
