And for all the ....

{inspiration you have given me over the last 52 days!}
You helped me out in so many ways. First, I was shooting in VIVID! And second, I
1. Positive: Shooting in Vivid is great to make my colors bright and happy
Negative: I spend A LOT of time in correcting everything because it adds lots of red
and orange!!
2. Positive: RAW files is the way to go.
Negative: I am still trying to figure out a negative :)
3. Positive: Switched my settings to Neutral and it makes me happy. So much less time
editing SKIN TONES!!!
Negative: NONE.....so far!
4. Positive: I blow my reds less often.
Negative: I can edit far more photos and am not minding the skin tone correction near
as much!! Am I saying that....really, that is a positive!
So thank you! I also did some research on my own because that is just my personality. I have to know it all well or I am not happy. That's the perfectionist in me I guess. So I am excited to see how much this changes my photos. Sad at the same time to think that my style (if I ever had one) might change a bit?? We'll see. But tonight I have a few more photos than I am suppose to just because I was doing the happy dance on not spending so much time getting the red out of the picture!! These are in no way perfect and I have a long way to go, but that is what this 365 days is for!
Hands was the theme. She appears to be reading a magazine.

{Pottery Barn Kids, my favorite!}

My DD loves to crinkle....

wrinkle....

and tear aanything paper....
{including Mommies Scott Kelby WB sheet}

After she tears them apart she is great at cleaning up after herself. She has a handful of little ripped pieces all ready for the trash.
How sweet of her and I love her for it!!
I can still see your style coming through in these shots, and they look wonderful...especially the last one. Her eyes are just incredible! Do you PP in PS or LR? What was your technique for getting rid of too much red? I struggle with that too even though I shoot in Standard Mode.
ReplyDeleteI love these. Your style is still here :-) Color and skin tones look great. Looking forward to seeing you in a few soon?
ReplyDeletewhatever you are doing...it looks perfect! It's beautiful work that you do!
ReplyDeleteI agree your style has not gone anywhere. I still can't get over all your light! :) You should pop into a few picture! I told myself I need to be in at least one photo a month, I haven't done this month though, need to get on that.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I don't use a grey card to set white balance. I have a white balance lens cap but half the time I can not find it because my daughter gets a hold of it. Haha But if I have it, I like to use it inside most. Outside, I tend to always have my settings on Cloudy. It give my picture a little extra warmth. If I get something that is too warm or cool. I use my temp. and tint slider to adjust them to my liking.
Oops, those sliders (temp and tint) are in ACR. You should definitely check out RAW. It's a scary jump, but once you do it and get the hang of it (which I have no doubt it won't take you long) you love it. It's seriously wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, the lighting class is going great. I hope that means you see a change in my photos since I started! :) I've really been trying to apply everything to my 365.
Tracy, these pictures are amazing!! You do and have always done a fantastic job with the lighting (can I come live in your house??!!) ;). I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE shooting in RAW, it's just awesome. Gives you added flexibility, but I'm still trying my best to make sure my exposure is good. I feel that I can only do so much to my pictures when they're RAW, but I need to make sure everything I do prior to PP is good as well!! Anyway, sorry for the rambling. I love your shots and the pic of your daughter looking up is gorgeous, great catchlights!!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful pictures. So crisp and clear and bright. Even w/out the Vivid setting. :)
ReplyDeleteNow I need to go check out what my camera is set to....
Such sweet pictures. RAW is definitely the way to go. I know there are probably a ton more settings on my camera I could mess with. I just haven't yet. My baby girl likes to crinkle, wrinkle and tear too. Now that she is getting older I am trying to teach her not to tear as much. She does good about cleaning up her messes too. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat interpretation of the Hands prompt from Joy of Love.
ReplyDeleteI love PBKids too. It looks like PBK threw up in my kiddos' rooms. And I used LilyBlue honey on the cookie image. Then played around with the color balance sliders on a separate layer to add in other colors to the shadows. If you google LilyBlue, you should come up with something.
ReplyDeleteMy little one is tearing things, too--and leaving a trail of messes everywhere! Your daughter looks like a living doll!
ReplyDeleteI love that last one. I shot in RAW a couple of times but my computer won't let me import them off my camera - do you know why?
ReplyDeleteI love the last one too. Her eyes are so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI soo need to learn more about the settings on my camera! I think I will make that a priority later tonight! She is just the sweetest. :)
