Joy: Love to Hate I chose one of my children's toys instead of any person or animal..Playmobil. This photo was not taken today, but a couple weeks ago when my son purchased a new set with his Christmas money from Great Grandpa. I have a love hate relationship with it. It truly is the greatest toy we have ever invested in for our children. Their first experience with it was the Christmas of 2008 I believe. This was one of those toys that they never tired of and when Christmas 2009 came around they were still playing with it. They ask for playmobil at every birthday and usually at Christmas.
My hate with playmobil are the small pieces, the amount of time it takes to pick them up and the fear that my 17 month old with get a hold of one of the many little pieces. In the beginning we didn't have the amount we have now and we would sort each set.....what was I thinking!?!?! I had to let go of my pet peeve and accept the fact that each set was not going to stay together, my children are going to play with the toy and pieces are/may get lost....
And yes, I allow them to purchase more...why???? because it's educational, imaginative, does not require batteries and they love it! :)

Great perspective...both the photo and admitting your obsession about all the pieces and finally letting it go. I think a lot of mom's go through that same thing, me included, but we rarely talk about it, so kudos to you.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad we still not into playmobil. Yet.
ReplyDeleteReally like the doff on this shot and again, great color.
I used to count LEGOS. What was I thinking? Sometimes it is just easier to let it go!
ReplyDeleteI love playmobil! We collected it as kids!
ReplyDeleteFor us, it's Legos. Both boys love Legos and we have thousands. We have sets too, that are no longer sets. LOL
ReplyDeleteWell at least you're being a great mom and letting them get more, even though you hate it! ;)
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain with small pieces. Barbie has so many more accessories than I remember her having.
