Day 263 Monarch Release with Great Grandpa

Another photo from our trip to Wisconsin a couple weeks late.  I wanted to post the last few days of photos even though they are not on the day I actually took them because they are very important and special to us.

Great Grandpa had never had the experience of releasing a monarch butterfly after it comes out of its chrysalis.  We brought our four unopened chrysalises along because we knew if we didn't they would not make it.  And since we took on this responsibility, they had the privilege of making a 6 hour road trip tucked on top of all of our luggage.  And since Grandma and Grandpa H stayed with us in our unit, they also experienced for the first time, monarchs coming out of their chrysalis.  This was also a first for the boys.  We always seemed to miss it.  It was like they waited for that very moment when we would walk away and then come out.  It was an amazing morning!

The next evening after Estelle's birthday celebration we took a walk down to the water.  Great Grandpa as the first to release.  His face will forever be embedded in my memory.

  2. Oh my gosh, Tracy! That doesn't even look real! How cool!!

I'm sorry that I'm just now replying to your PTM action question. I have Fresh Wonderland (only use the hush now action) and the Coffee Decaf (or something) set, too. I think she layers her actions a lot, but I just use one per image. Hope that helps and that I'm not too late with my info!! :)

  3. Oh Tracy, this is a wonderful image. What a great moment to share with the generations and then to capture Granddad experiencing such joy like he was a child again is priceless! This is such a great image in so, so many ways. I'm glad you all got to experience this miracle together and will have the memory to hold onto forever!
