Day 310 Ladybug

I am in awe of this beautiful fall weather we have been having.  No complaining on my end!  The kiddos have been out playing every day for many hours of the day.  I feel we need to get in as much outside play time as possible before the snow flies and the sub zero temps set in.  For some reason, I am not ready for the white fluffy stuff this year!

I've been meaning to get individual shots for the three in their Halloween costumes for me to have.  Tonight the lighting outside was buttery and calling for me and my camera.  I decided to dress Estelle up in her costume which I have been keeping handy in the office.  She was all for getting dressed up again as she LOVES to play dress up with anyone's clothes.  However, once we got outside and both realized how chilly it had gotten with the sun slowly descending her excitement changed.  My ideas were not her ideas.  This shot is just a sweet shot of her and her uncertainty of the situation.  She lasted all of two minutes. ;)

  1. Oh Tracy! These are just beyond precious! What a gorgeous little ladybug! ♥♥ You really captured such a great feel in these photos - wow.

Do you mind a photography question? How do you get that beautiful haze, like in your b&w shot, but without the sun flare streaking across. I can get the haze like that, but lots of time I get those circle things, and they're always right across someone's face. Is it a matter of just positioning yourself differently? Do you use a (gosh, what are they called)...thing that goes on the end of your lens? Like a sun flare cover thing? (Ah yes, a true professional I am!) LOL! :-) Not.

I absolutely ADORE these photos, and I need to practice more with backlight. It has such a different (wonderful!) feel than my photos. ♥

  2. I must say, in those few minutes you captured shots that others would give anything to accomplish! They are beautiful.

  3. Thanks so much for your email Tracy! "Lens hood!" - LOL! That was the word I was looking for - ha ha! I'm not up on the photography lingo either.

I am definitely going to have to practice more with backlighting. I'm not comfortable with it, and I want to get better! Those type of shots have such a wonderful feel! ♥
