One of my New Years resolutions was to physically take our children to the bank like my parents always did when I was a child. With the way things are now, most purchases are made with some sort of plastic. Cash cards are a big thing and cash is rarely used, at least at our house. For us this just makes it easier because most purchases can be looked up. Also, most deposits for us are made by my husband because of the convenience of having a bank in the building he works at.
Well, I want my children to physically see the exchange of cash between banker and child. I want them to grow up knowing that a plastic card isn't there just to make purchases and that the money "magically" appears on it. We had started with my oldest, but his little pig just didn't work well for paper money....a little too difficult to get them out through the piggies little legs.
So today we made our own bins to divide their money out between.
{Save}
{Give}
{Spend}
Hopefully this will keep us motivated to make more trips to the bank to see exactly where their money goes.
That is a great idea! Beautiful pictures too!
ReplyDeleteCute jars with cute monograms make even saving money more fun! Great resolution. Your processing on these photos is really lovely. You are consistent. I am jealous :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!!! I may have to do something like this with my 4 almost 5 year old!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful idea, and so cute too! Love this post!
ReplyDeleteThat's great. Last year we saved coins and before Christmas we went to the bank to exchange the goodies. My son was so happy with his $120 in paper (He could spend 50% e the rest went to savings)
ReplyDeleteWe have already started saving this year. I think I will copy your GIVE jar :) Thanks for sharing
Love these!
ReplyDeleteWe do this for our kids as well, but with envelopes. I love the jars though. We maybe have to switch over :-)
What an awesome idea!! I love the concept of having a 'give' jar.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great way to teach about money!
ReplyDeleteI really like this idea, Tracy. Nice photos, too!
